How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My husband is working but the amount he receives monthly was not enough for us to think big. The money could be used on some basic needs and we could not even save enough money. After receiving my transfer, I set some new goals to match the money that I will receive. So I thought of improving infrastructure in my house. I bought a king size bed, and mattress. I also thought of improving my business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GD is doing very well by providing unconditional cash transfers to rural people. The money enables one to concentrate on reducing his/her poverty level.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Wow, I still can't believe what I see in my house. I only thank GD for coming in to help. With the money, I managed to buy a king size mattress and bed. The mattress costed MK 130 000. I am very happy because I am now sleeping on a comfortable place. I do a small business of selling freezes and I hired a young man who help in selling. It was really difficult to make more sales and I decided to buy a bike to ease movement. From the day I bought him a bike, things are moving really good and I am making more sales. I thank GD.
