How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is currently different in that in my old age, I have been in position to build a permanet house. This house will now relieve me from the issue of buying grass yearly to renovate my hut. Prior to building my iron roofed house, my wife and I were practically sharing the house with rats as they had infested the whole house. They had made holes in the ground and the roof. So when rains started, the whole house would leak and during the sunny season, the grass cuttings would fall from the roof. I am really grateful that I received money that helped me out of such a situation.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money that has lifted me to higher standard of life. GiveDirectly on the other hand has done nothing bad.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent all my second transfer to buy some building materials such as bricks, sand, nails, iron sheets, cement, feed and paid labor that built my house.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
I'm no longer worried like I used to before I received the transfer. I was worried about my leaking houses and when rains return I live in bad conditions due to leakage and my property could get damaged. I'm so happy because I have built my house though its not complete but I believe after I get my last transfer it will fully be complete.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was over joyed and praised God when I received my first transfer, I knelt down in my house prayed to God to keep blessing Give Directly and the staff in general for the wonderful and amazing assistance. I was so happy that whatever I did not have in my household it was time for me to purchase all the necessities that my house needed.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I fell sick sometime back in the days and I did not have money for treatment, I decided to get money from a money lender and gave him my piece of land as collateral security. When I got this transfer I paid off the money lender and owned my land fully at a cost of UGX 500000. I have been sleeping in a a grass thatched house that leaks during rainy season. I desired to build a permanent house and as we speak now its in a window level awaiting last transfer for completion and I have so far spent UGX 800000 for both labor and materials. I also bought a bed since I was sleeping down on the floor which costed me UGX 70000. I paid labor for cutting timber at UGX 60000 and I used UGX 140000 for treating my spouse. I have also saved UGX 130000 for future use.
