How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Four months ago I had no job hence no source of income. Whenever possible, I would get casual jobs that would pay very little at the end of a whole day's work which was quite frustrating. For this reason, I would prefer not to look for those jobs at all and idle at home which made me broke most of the times forcing me to ask for financial assistance from my relatives. With the business that I recently set up, all thanks to the transfers from Give Directly, I can now make my own money and have no time to idle at home. The best part about it is that I no longer have to depend on my relatives financially.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have managed to save most of my previous transfers which I used to set up a barbershop business last month. The business is not stable yet as there are a lot of equipment and items I still need to make it complete and fully functional. I wish to spend most of my next transfers buying these requirements so that by the time the project is over, I will have bought all that is required.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I recently opened a barbershop with the help of the transfers from Give Directly which has now changed my daily life because I have a stable source of income and something to keep me busy. Before I opened the business, I was very idle with nothing constructive to do especially in the afternoons after leaving the farms. I felt quite unproductive staying at home doing nothing all afternoon while my peers were busy making money. I am happy the I now have my own business and I don't have to financially depend on my relatives as I did before.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
Currently, the business I started has not yet stabilized and I have not yet started earning much from it. This means that I am still not in a position to support my grandmother with the household needs as I would love to, but I hope that in the next six months, I will be making decent profits so that I can support her and even be able to make savings for my future college plans.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My grandmother who has been taking care of us since the death of our parents has been sick for the last three months. We don't struggle anymore as it was the case whenever she fell sick earlier on. Anytime she was sick or she was away from home, I would have to miss school just to go for casual work to raise money for our daily meals. When I received this money, I have been able to pay for her medical bill as well as food for the entire month and I still manage to go to school. This transfer has really given us an easy time in handling our financial needs without having to beg or struggle through casual work.

Since I stay with my grandmother, I have always had to support her on provision for the family. Three months ago, she fell sick and she has not been able to go back to her normal duties. I had then to take charge of the family and provide for our daily needs. I would want to continue supporting her by paying for her medication and food for the family until she gets well.

The biggest difference in my life since I started receiving this transfer is that I now have my secondary school certificates. My grandmother who is a casual worker was not able to raise the money to pay my school fees when I was still in school. The headteacher agreed to let me do my examinations but won't let me have my certificates until I clear the remaining fees arrears. I had to go for casual work to help my grandmother raise the money to settle the arrears but it has not been easy. When I received this money, I went to clear the debts so that I could get my certificates. Right now, I feel very happy and motivated to continue with my education because I have my papers. I hope to join college next year.
