How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it was in that, I was able to achieve some of the goals that seemed impossible. I now sit in decent seats. I also have a cow. I feel good because I am now at per with some of the village members. Among the greatest achievements I have accomplished, owning a cow is my biggest achievement
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly's project of giving out unconditional transfers was the best idea. The project has since uplifted our living standards. Most of us were able to achieve most of their goals. It was a huge amount, therefore, most of us were able to do something significant. The best thing about this money is that it was directly sent to us. All the money was able to reach us.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent part of my transfer to purchase a dairy cow. Our culture values livestock keeping especially the dairy cows. It is always believed that cows can change someone's social status since it has numerous economic benefits. Because we now have a cow, we no longer spend money on buying milk. We instead sell milk and earn extra income which helps us in catering to our daily needs. Apart from that, I also bought hybrid seeds because it was a planting season and I had to have everything ready. I finally bought seats and food during the last festive season.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
We have been desiring to own a cow and receiving this money mean we will be able to own one. We have been having a problem in getting milk since there are a few people selling milk in the village and that is why I we are planning to own dairy cattle.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening since it is the only time I am free and after the day's work. It is also the time we chat and bond with my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In the year 2014, our maize plantation was attacked by unknown disease yet we entirely depend on it for survival. Since then, there has been no remedy for this disease opting us to work extra hard as casual labourers and that has been the biggest hardship we have faced in life.
