How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to complete the renovation works on my house. About two rainy seasons now, I have not slept from the leakages on the roof of my house. Looking for or getting the finance to purchase zinc has been a complete challenge for me. Now that I have received this amount of money money, my plan is to remove the thatch that has caused me lot of sleepless nights during the rainy seasons and reroof the entire house.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well by not been selective in enrolling people in the community that it works. It does not attach condition(s) to the money that is given to the people that are qualified to be recipients. Moreover, GiveDirectly has trained and qualified staffs who are always coming to my community. In my opinion the above mentioned are some of the things GiveDirectly does well; and as for what it does not do well, nothing have I seen.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I did spend my most recent transfer on the purchase of zinc, nails, and mattress. With the purchase of the zinc and nails, I am able to remove the round pole sticks and thatch that is currently on my house and replace it with planks and zinc. I usually depend on cassava farming to sell and pay people to cut thatch for me to put over my house but with the money given me by GiveDirectly I will no longer have to worry myself about paying people to cut for me when the rainy season is nearing. By then, my house will roof with zinc.
