How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been if I never received the transfers in that I have bought a dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and this was so costly for me. I so casual jobs and small scale farming. The amount of money that I get through this is so small and cannot meet all the basic needs of the family. I did not had an extra income to buy dairy cows. When I received the second transfer we found it wise to invest on this amazing dairy project. We are no longer buying milk and we are saving the money that we could have used to meet other needs. I am so grateful because my children get enough milk and we no longer get stress up. GiveDirectly has enabled us to own dairy cow which could have taken quite some time to purchase.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly does well by giving money to the poor in the community to build better houses and to buy dairy cows. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well .
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend part of the money I received from GiveDirectly to purchase a Dairy cow. I used to buy milk daily and it was so costly for me. I also bought a water tank for storing water for domestic use. This has saved much time for me because I no longer walk for a long distance to collect clean water. The rest of the money I bought food for the family because we didn't had enough in store during that time.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was doing some farming and I was about to complete it when I heard an SMS alert on my phone. I stopped to check it and I was so happy to see that we had received the transfer as promised. I hurriedly finished what I was doing and I went home to inform my family of the good news. They were so happy to hear this and we thanked God and GiveDirectly for what they had done to us.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The money from GiveDirectly has brought a big difference in our lives. We have been able to cement the floor of our house that we have been living in. The house now looks good and clean. We will therefore no longer have stress making long trips to get mud for smearing the floor. Having bought chairs for our house, we can sit comfortably and chat for a long time with our family members and guests. The children are happy too after we had bought them new school uniforms. We therefore no longer worry about the school uniforms and we can now focus on getting school fees.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The transfer from GiveDirectly has helped me a lot. I have been able to cement the floor of the house that we have been living in it. We had built the house but we could not be able to complete it due to lack of enough money. We were therefore forced to smear mud on the floor and live in it. This has not been easy since getting mud for smearing the floor has been quite a challenge. We had to go to a very far place to get it. The house too has not been that comfortable to stay in since it usually gets dusty. The transfer has too helped me in buying some chairs for our house and I also bought some school uniforms for my children. Doing the above that is cementing the floor and buying chairs has been a challenge for us to do because the little money that we get from our hustles usually goes to payment of school fees for the children. We thank GiveDirectly a lot for this program that they thought of starting to help people in need.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
It means that I will be able to complete bulding a house for my family, currently the house is not in good condition, the floor is earth floor an it takes time to look for soil to repair. We normally go for 2km to find good soil to smear our house but now if I get this money I will have saved that time and do other home work
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening after working all day I find myself more happy this because my family have had a good day and we get sitted together and share the challenges and ideas to help us move forward.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Being unemployed and loosing my source of income when schools closed due to covid-19 has been the hardest things for me and my family.when I was employed I use to earn 5USD per month and that could help me purchase basic items for my family but now since I lost that job it has become so difficult to have those basic stuff like meals.
