How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different in that I was able to build a descent house that is more safe from cold nights and rains which I would have not built on my own. I was also able to save some money when I received the transfer, these savings have enabled me to pay for my daughter school fees and buy uniforms and books which would have been a toll order as I am just a peasant farmer that all my daily earnings goes into our food expenses.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Givedirectly did well in that they explained well to the community what they were going to do during barasa and they also visit every household without discrimination. They ensured all poor families were given transfer. I did not see anything wrong during their processes in our village.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer on building a new house as my husband passed on and left me in a small leaky house. I could hardly accommodate all my household members and cooking arrangements in the same house. The current house is descent and comfortable with my children that already becoming of age now.
