How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The cash transfers have significantly transformed my future. I started up a stationery business which earns me daily income. I have also acquired money to complete my diploma course. Before receiving the cash transfers, I was idle and unemployed. I usually did irregular casual jobs which were not profitable. More so, I was languishing at home due to lack of tuition to complete my diploma in agriculture. I am very thankful to GiveDirectly for the cash transfers.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly has improved the living standards of the poor community through giving them unconditional cash transfers. However, GiveDirectly needs to revise the enrollment and fine tune the eligibility criteria. For instance, at first I had been left out during initial enrollment because I was reported to have been studying. Yet at that time I had applied for a dead year due to lack of tuition.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I am planning to spend all the second cash transfer to pay for my tuition fees.
