I do not have any new goals at the moment except to improve on my farming practices. I normally do onion farming to sustain the needs of my family but I feel I should increase the scale of farming so as to make more income and improve our living standards as a family. I plan to do this by saving up enough money from the proceeds that I get from the farm and those from casual work that I do.

In my opinion GiveDirectly did very well by giving us money uncobditinally. Everyone did what pleased them and what they thought was of great benefit to them.Some people were at the verge of selling pieces of land to pay school fees, others had never owned houses roofed with iron sheets but GiveDirectly made them realize their dreams.

I used KES 30000 to buy a dairy cow and used another KES 20000 to pay school fees for my child who is doing her university education. The remaining amount was used to buy food and other basic household needs. I am personally so happy to have been part of the beneficiaries of this program since it helped me a lot in terms of getting enough cash to pay school fees for my children. They require huge school fees to be paid and had it not been for GiveDirectly, then it would have been a little hard for me. I normally rely on onion farming proceeds to make money buy the money that I get is hardly enough to make ends meet.

The moment I received my transfer, My family and I were busy at the farm harvesting beans. Suddenly I heard my phone ringing, Upon checking I realised that I had received a sum of KES 55,000 from GiveDirectly. Words can not explain the immense joy and happiness that I felt, it was a new dawn for us because I was optimistic that I would achieve all the plans that I had in place. My children too were equally excited and grateful for the support that came our way.

My daily life is different because we were given the opportunity for us to clear the fee balances that were still pending. Therefore my children can comfortably study without any glitches. Secondly, we no longer worry anytime it is about to rain, but rather grateful because we would harvest the rainwater. This was a worry before because our roof was leaking, but now it's a story of the past. I am so grateful for the support that changed our living standards amazingly.

I am a consistent farmer majoring in planting spring onions. Though I do small scale due to my health issues. I am blessed with six children. When I received my money I considered replacing the roof of my house which was old and leaking, I was unable to repair it before due to financial constraints as a result of school fees responsibilities. Thus, I used 18,500 in buying new iron sheets, I then decided to reduce the fee arrears of my children who are in college and secondary where I paid KES 18,000. Lastly, I bought a calf and two hens with the remaining amount of the transfer. I am so grateful for the milestones that I have achieved.
