The motorcycle which is my main source of income got broke down more than two weeks ago. The broken parts are quite expensive and being that it has been my only source of income, raising enough money to repair it is a challenge. Therefore, I have an additional goal to look for ways of repairing it so that I can get back to work. Currently, I am using someone's motorcycle in order to raise money for repairing the bike.

In opinion, Give Directly does well by giving people money and letting them decide on how to spend it. This a great way of empowering people financially. On the other hand, there is nothing they are not doing well.

We have been experiencing a shortage of water, especially during drought periods. In most cases, we walk for about 7 Kilometers in search of water. I have, therefore, bought a water tank at a cost of KES 26000 so that I can harvest rainwater. We now have enough water for domestic use and my spouse does not have to spend most of her time fetching water. I also bought 3 goats at a cost of KES 13500 for rearing. I did not have any goats previously. They are good investments since they give birth at least twice a year. The rest of the money I spent on both food and clothing for my children so that they could replace the old worn-out ones they had.

Confirming the receipt of the first transfer after reading through the message that I had received that morning was a great joy to me. My hope of fulfilling the dreams and the plans we had put in place with my family was finally confirmed. At that moment, I was at home with my wife whom I had to call out of the kitchen garden. We celebrated and thanked God together for the great support we had just received.

With the new water tank with a huge capacity, I am hopeful that we will soon be enjoying a plentiful supply of water. This is the biggest difference in my daily life and a dream come true for every member of my household since we have been struggling a lot to use a little amount of water as possible especially when we are experiencing droughts. The money we had been spending on buying water will soon be diverted into buying foodstuff for the household and settling other household bills.

Just after enrollment, all our plans on the spending started becoming clearer since a day could hardly pass without a discussion with my family on the same. At the top of our list was a water tank with a better capacity since we needed to mitigate the serious challenge of water scarcity with the frequent dry seasons in our locality. It has been so expensive buying water from the vendors who fetch with their motorbikes from a river far away from the village and sell to us at a price of their choice. I am glad that on receiving the transfer, the plan never changed, and am currently happy to be constructing a foundation for a 3000-liters tank that I bought at KES22500. I also constructed an extension of our small kitchen, providing an extra room that is spacious enough for all my four children to sleep in. Two have been seeking a bed-space in my neighbors' house which has been an inconvenience since they could not find freedom and personal spaces whenever they need. Being skilled in construction work, I just had to purchase the materials that cost a total of KES5500 and do all the construction work. with the remaining KES 14000, I managed to purchase three goats that I am determined to rear, breed, and later sell them to settle other financial obligations arising within the family.
