Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I am married, but I have an absentee husband who works in a faraway town. So most of the responsibilities are left on me. Before the transfers, I used to have a difficult time paying school fees for my children and getting meals for them. This changed, I did use the recent transfers to pay their school fees and after accumulation of the transfers, I have also built a kitchen that doubles up as a room for my adolescent sons who now require privacy.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, the biggest difference is that my children are able to stay in school unlike before when they were sent home on a monthly basis due to school arrears. Staying in school has greatly improved their performance. I will no longer feel embarrassed since my visitors will have comfortable seats to sit on as compared to before when the empty water containers served as seats.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal for the next four months is to continue saving in the merry go round. I intend to use the savings to buy a dairy cow. In the future when it shall have reproduced, I will have milk and my children will drink as other children in the village. Therefore, they will no longer have to take porridge on a daily basis because can not afford to buy them milk.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I was a laughing stack in my village before because I could not afford to own a seat since the income I got from casual jobs could cater to my family's pressing needs. My husband who could assist stays with his mistress in town and he doesn't support us. When I had visitors I often felt very embarrassed because the empty water containers could serve as seats. The biggest difference in my daily life is that I bought a sofa set seat with the money I have been saving in a merry go round and it was my term to get these savings. I am very happy about the difference GiveDirectly has brought in my life.

Having no source of income and only depending on casual jobs that usually don't pay much had always made it so hard for me to pay school fees for my son in high school. He would constantly be sent away from school due to delayed school fee payment which negatively affected his general performance in school. With the help of these transfers, I have always managed to pay his fees on time and happy that he has stayed in school fully through the entire term without being sent away.
