Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very much happy the moment I received money from GiveDirectly. I had gone to fetch water in a nearby river and when I read a message from segovia technology. There and then I knew that it was money from GiveDirectly. I felt so much elated and did not share information with anyone whatsoever I was really elated. I did not share the information with anyone else until I withdrew the money
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the investments that we have made. Having paid school fees in time has made me very happy
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Used KES 15000 to buy a heifer and used KES 20000 to pay school fees and used the remainder to buy food for my family. Without GD I would still be paying the school fees in bits through selling of farm produce

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I depend fully on subsistence farming where I plant maize and sweet potatoes, the produce from my farm is not sufficient enough for commercial purposes although Whatever I harvest is for the family to consume. I have a son who is in form 3 at kiproroget secondary school, he has a school balance of KES 9,000. When I receive money from GiveDirectly I am planning to pay for his school fees. I have always desired to own a dairy cow, when I receive this money I will be glad to see my dream come true owning a cow. I have a budget of KES 35,000 go to buy a productive cow which will give me approximately 8litres of milk per day and will therefore sell at KES 37 per liter.
What is the happiest part of your day?
When I heard GiveDirectly was coming to my village I was so happy about it. I am glad I will be able to fulfill my heart's desires like being a dairy farmer.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
There is a disease of maize necrosis that has affected maize crops in our area for a long time, we fully depend on maize crops as a staple food. In the previous planting season, we planted maize crops on our 1-acre piece of land but unfortunately, we harvested 1 bag of maize in the entire land because most of the crops were damaged by the disease.
