How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to plaster my new house. Since it was constructed 2017 with mub, no cement on it. I also want to build a new house. The current house has too many occupants and I want to keep a space.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Fistly Givedirectly is good at taking people out of poverty. I used to live in a tartch house built by my late father many years ago. I had no hope of building a modern house or living a better life but Givedirectly did very well for me and my family. Honestly I haven't seen anything Givedirectly is not doing well. They are best at everything.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was overwhelmed when I received my first transfer. My source of income is farming. I built my house since five years ago. I couldn't afford to buy cement to plaster. Upon receiving my first transfer, I immediately purchased ten bags of cement to begin the process. After completing the plastering, my family will have a modern house to live in.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest change is that my family will now live in a decent house.I am also able to send my children to school.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
"I intend to build a concrete and zinc house when I receive this transfer because I'm very tired of palpus house now. When you build a three to four bedroom palpus house it does not even take long for it to wear out. Between one to two years everything gets rotten starting wirh the palpus and the roof begins to leak because it's made of thatch only. Right now I'm unable to send my children to school through to the lack of finance. So, the next thing I would be thinking of or planning to do would be enrolling my girls into school when I receive this money.
What is the happiest part of your day?
"I'm at the point of my life where I feel that nothing good is happening for me anymore because my major focus is on raising money for my family. Yet, upon your arrival ,I feel some level of hope and joy because I now have my very first phone for direct communication. And, I'm happy about the thought that there's money underway because I really want my children to be educated."
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
"I'm a contractor who works really hard but I don't get compensated as I should. I normally travel to the nearby Country on short terms contracts in the bush but my boss decides when I should be paid and when not. Most often, after completing the job that's when he complains that there's no money. So, it makes it challenging for me to handle my own money to cater to the needs of my family."
