At the beginning of this year, my daughter in high school had a lot of school fees balance. So far, I am happy that I have managed to clear the whole amount and she does not have to be sent away from school which has made her settle well in school and have enough time to concentrate on her studies. Clearing the school fees has also reduced the stress I always carried around of raising money pay the fees, especially on those days that she would be sent away from school.

The only achievement I have so far with regards to these transfers is clearing my daughter's school fees, but other than that, I have not managed to invest in anything else. Due to this, I have plans of buying three sheep and two goats before the end of the project as a way of investing the transfers and having something that will be a visible reminder of Give Directly's great impact on our lives.

There was a severe drought and famine witnessed within our area since the beginning of this year untill months ago. During this period, my family did not quite feel the effects of the famine, thanks to the transfers that enabled us to afford decent meals and other basic needs. Life would have been worse for us had we not been receiving the transfers because we do not have stable income and only depend on casual jobs that are mostly unavailable.

Having no stable source of income has always made it hard for me to invest my transfers in any tangible projects because I mostly spend the money on foodstuff and school fees. Currently, I have plans of buying a few goats and sheep because I have cleared my daughter's school fees which was the most urgent need. I expect to have bought the goats and sheep that I intend to buy so that even when the project is over, I will have something to remind me of Give Directly.

I have noticed that in the last four months, especially during the drought when food was very scarce, my family did not get into a lot of debts, all thanks to GD transfers. In the previous years, such seasons would be so difficult and unbearable, but this year, we managed to live a better life compared to those past years that GD had not started sending us these transfers. Because we are able to buy the most basic needs with these transfers, we rarely go hungry and borrow less as was the norm before.

We have agreed that we will combine our transfers as a family so that we can clear our daughter's school fees for the entire year before we can focus on other plans. We are prioritizing the school fees because we do not want her to be sent out of school for she is in her final year and needs more time to concentrate on her studies.

I have a daughter in secondary school who is in her final year and I would not wish for her be sent away from school due to uncleared fee balances. I have managed to clear her school fees for this term with the help of other members of my family who also benefit from GD transfers so that she can have ample time to revise for her final National exams. This gives me great joy as I can now focus on providing other basic needs for my family who can now afford to have better meals because my daily income is mostly spent on household requirements and foodstuff.

Once we have cleared paying my daughter's school fees for the year, we are planning to combine our transfers so that we can purchase more livestock. We know that this project will be over in the next nine months and we want to have something that will always be a reminder to us of GD's great impact in our lives, that is why we plan on buying more livestock.

I have paid school fees for my children and right now I can proudly say that I have no school fees balances, which makes me so proud. My kids used to be sent home every now and then, thereby making them miss their classes and derail a lot in terms of their academic performance. Unfortunately there was not so much that I could about it because my little finances could not keep them in school as I would have wished.

My goal right now is to buy a sheep that I will rear going into the future. The main aim is to keep it and when it gives birth in the future, I will be able to sell them out and earn some cash. Having the domestic animals act lime a future source of finances because when I am broke I can sell out the animals and earn some little cash in return. Apart from that, Keeping domestic animals also comes as a source of pride according to our culture and traditions.

I have been able to clear all my debts that I had accumulated before I had started receiving the cash transfers. I can say that within the last four months I have been able to pay school fees for my children promptly without delays so my kids do not have to spend time at home while their counterparts are carrying on with their studies.

We are getting into a planting season where every one prepares their land for the on-coming season. I plan to buy new seedlings and fertilizers that I will use where my main target is to get bumper harvest during the harvesting period. Having enough food is an important aspect in any human beings life because it makes the family food secure for a period of lets say five to six months before we can get into another planting season.

My life is currently different from the way it was four months ago in that currently, I can meet most of my needs without borrowing money from people which was hectic repaying. This has relieved me a lot and I feel happy.

For the next four months of my life I have a goal of looking for ways of raisng money for next year's school fee for my child who will be joining fourth form.

The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the transfers is that I'm currently free of debts because I can now budget with the money GD sends me. This has relieved of a lot of stress and financial strain.

In the next six months, I expect to have bought a cow for rearing as a way of future investment and as remembrance of GD.

My new goal is to start up a new business to boost my income.

The difference in my daily life is that I was able to pay all my debts and pay school fees in time.

The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving this transfer is that my daughter is in school studying in peace. I was so much bothered about her school fees since I never a stable source of income.
