How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I now have cows which according to me is an asset because I know I will know that I will have the chance to sell them in the future just in case I run out of finances in the future. I am now at peace because I no longer get worried about finances and my general well being like it used to happen to me in the past.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I believe peoples lives have changed a lot as a result of the cash transfer from Give Directly. Personally, I feel that I have all those which I had desired to pocess in the past but then was not able to have due to limited financial abilities. For instance, I now own more than five goats and the three cows which I purchased using the transfers from the organization. So right now in case, I become broke then I will comfortably sell out the livestock.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used the money to buy three cows which I plan to be rearing for financial benefits in the future. I know that eventually, they will give birth to their young calves and of course I will be able to get milk without having to buy milk from the local vendors.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that the transfer has changed my way of living for I was previously living in a grass thatched house and through the transfer, I was able to renovate my roof and replaced the grassy roof. I am happy now that I have permanently renovated the roof and no more fear of rains.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was woken up early in the morning by a message notification from my phone. On checking to confirm the sender, it was from GiveDirectly notifying me that I had received my first transfer which they had promised us. I was very happy for the financial assistance as it would later on help me upgrade my way of living to a new status.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent part of my first transfer on purchasing 20 iron sheets, timber and nails in order to renovate my roof. Initially, my house was grass thatched and during rains, it would leak profusely. I was tired of replacing the grasses on the roof every time it becomes dilapidated. The transfer has enabled me to replace and renovate the roof permanently which for long I could not meet the full cost due to financial constraints. In addition to this, I bought four goats to keep and to save as my assets and I am expecting them to reproduce and to increase in number. I will also have something to depend on to meet my future financial needs. Lastly, I bought a new wooden bed and mattress to replace the old rags and mats on which I was sleeping on. I can now enjoy a comfortable sleep with the new bedding.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I will finally be able to renovate my current house that is in a very bad state and also start a shop keeping business within my village to be earning my income every month.Currently my house lacks a roof because the one that I had was blown off by the wind and I have not been able to repair it due to lack of a stable source of income.whenever it rains or shines a lot,my family is forced to hurdle in one corner which I tried to repair and this affects me a lot.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Evening hours is the happiest part of my day. This is because during the day,I spend most of my time in the farm cutting wood which my husband goes to sell to nearby towns to earn some income. The whole process is normally very hectic and tiresome thus evening hours is my happiest hour because I finally get to rest.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that my family and I are facing is living in constant fear of being evicted anytime from the parcel of land that we have come to know as our own. After the death of my father in law, some unknown people just came out of nowhere and they have been insisting that the land where we live in is theirs.Being that they are many and we too don't have the legal title deeds,my family has not been able to live in peace nor engage the farms in any meaningful way to improve our lives for fear of abrupt evictions. This has really led my family to live in abject poverty.
