What does receiving this money mean to you?
Imagine spending 15 years sleeping on the floor. This has been the case with my 3 grandchildren whom I am living with in my house. Whenever the night approaches, it's always a hell of an experience. Being a widow, providing the family with this basic need has been a major challenge to me. Receiving this money means I will have the opportunity to buy 2 beds and mattresses for my grandchildren so that they can enjoy their nights. I will also spend KES 20000 to buy goats and KES 5000 to start a grocery ( selling kales, tomatoes, bananas and potatoes) as a source of income for the family in buying food and paying school fees for children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
During the festive season, I had a joint celebration with my family who brought sugar, wheat flour and KES 500 for me. This made me so happy as I had been a year since we last met.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Due to the unreliable climate conditions we are experiencing, I cannot afford to provide enough food for my family and this has really affected their health as well as their academic performance as sometimes they go to school hungry.
