How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Generally I can say that my life has improved to a great extent because for one IO now have a business that is up and running and out of the business transactions, I am able to get enough money for my day to day needs. The members of this village no longer get transfers from GD but that does not worry me a t all because I am able to rely on my own finances and proceeds from my business.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I believe that GD has been in the forefront in changing peoples lives especially the most needy in the society. I have seen a lot of people use the cash transfers to buy things that have tremendously changed their lives. For instance, for me I was able to start up a business which most probably I would have never started were it not fro the transfers from GD.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the second transfer on buying several items that I felt were very important for me at that particular time. Some of the products that I bought using the cash included cereals that consumed a total of 6000 KES, a solar [powered equipment that was worth 30000 KES and then I also had to buy food so that the family didn't have to go hungry.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship i have faced in my life is inadequate resources that has been a barrier to my dream of attaining technical skills. It has taken two good years since i sat for my ordinary level education certificate, and because my father has got no extra resources to facilitate my training, i have been living a life of hopelessness.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is night. This is because, it is the time i am free and be together with my family. Having my family around me is the happiest moment i have ever had.
What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money will be a step and achievement to me. I have a family and i don't have a house, i am now certain that i will use part of this transfer to buy building materials and build my own house.
