Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I will be using the money I will be receiving on expanding the shop business that I run in my village. I will be using the money to stock mainly foodstuffs and personal care products.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I spent the money I had been saving in a merry go round group to start a business. Before starting the business, I was just a housewife and I relied on menial jobs and my husband for daily needs. Income from this business has been meeting my daily needs without being a nuisance by nagging my husband asking him for personal care products. I am able to provide for my children for the last four months.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect to be earning a higher income from the shop business. I will have been spending the money I receive to expand the business by buying more stock for the shop. I am expecting a slowdown in the next few weeks as the spread of the Corona Virus may cause people to hoard money for security reasons.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to keep saving in a merry go round group in order to buy a heifer. I will have assets that I can take care of school fees for the children as they head to secondary school in the coming year. I need to be able to contribute towards this huge financial obligation to assist my husband who is struggling, earning little from his job as a school cook.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the income I get from the shop business that I started and keep expanding using the money I receive from GiveDirectly. I am glad that I can take care of my family's need from the two income sources, transfer and the shop business. I find meaningful work at the shop unlike before when I would spend most of the days middle while relying entirely on my husband whose wages are barely enough to meet our daily needs. Since I am now chipping in to help with daily household expenditure? he now uses his money to fund bigger family financial needs including keeping our children in good schools. It makes me happy that my children have a better experience than before I started the business.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have strengthened my shop business by expanding it with every month's transfer. I will be increasing the stock from time to time so that I trade in larger volumes of goods than currently, This will ensure that I have work to do on a daily basis. I will be able to make money for my family welfare unlike recently when I would have haad to rely solely on my husband.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Comparing my current life and how it was in the last four months, we have witnessed a really big difference. A lot of things have changed and among them are; the existence of a small shop business which never existed before, new houses in the new location in our household and also well-furnished home different from how it was. We are really grateful for the changes and all credit goes to GiveDirectly for the great support they have been giving us.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
After constructing our houses and solving the water problem which we initially had, we are currently feeling good that everything has been easy and can even lay down other plans. Currently, we have an additional goal to start a savings plan towards payment of our daughter's school fees who will be sitting for her national exams this year. We are now getting prepared to start her off in her first year in secondary school since we are sure of the increased payment which we will be making as she move to the next level.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Receiving transfers from GiveDirectly has really helped me a great deal. Initially, when I first received the first transfer, I was living at the far end of our land towards the hills. Life there wasn't easy especially towards the dry seasons when we had to fetch water from the streams down the hills. It was really tedious carrying water up the hills more than once each day. The first transfer gave us an idea of joining a merry-go-round which was then starting within the village with the plan to shift our household down the hills - towards the road- once our turn comes. This has come to pass since we are now living in newly built houses strategically constructed in a location not far from the source of water. Life has been easy since we shifted which is the biggest difference in our daily life for the last four months.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I expect to have improved our household appearance by adding more household goods which are not available at the moment. We also expect to improve our business inventories and ensuring expansion of the whole business since we will have completed the second round of merry-go-round.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Currently, I am able to afford to have decent meals. My children no longer sleep hungry. We use to skip several meal meals. Initially, we would only take tea for lunch and have one meal in the evening. They had become malnourished due to lack of enough food. I did not have the means to ensure they ate well but after Give Directly came into my life, My kid's health has improved. They are happier and looking good.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal now that I have something to earn me extra income and I will be receiving transfers for the next ten years, I am planning to take my children to a private school. I believe in Education. I know by investing in my children I will empower them and make them independent. This means they will not have to struggle like me and depend on casual jobs in order to succeed in life. Hopefully, they will get quality education, get employed and live successfully.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer is that now am self-employed. I managed to save part of the money I received from GiveDirectly through merry-go-round. Last month, I received a total of KES 22000 which I spent to start up a business. I spent it on purchasing stock for my new shop. I have been yearning to start this shop for quite some time and the thought of it was not successful until GiveDirectly came to our village and support us. This meant I would be no longer looking for casual jobs which are normally tedious and low paying.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I believe we will be financially stable. Our business will have picked up. This means we will be able to live better lives since we will be able to afford most of the things we couldn't afford some months ago. The best part of it is that we will not have to depend on casual jobs in order to earn a living.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
All of my children are better fed these days and are able to attend school with less disturbance. I feed them with well-balanced diet food and most importantly, we get regular meals as I use the money I receive to buy foodstuff. I am able to pay school fees on time and hence they can now learn and study all the time of the school term. This has really stabilized my thoughts and I am so happy to be in this Cash transfer program..
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I plan to continue saving in my merry go round group. I will use my turn off the group's collection to start a shopkeeping business.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have accumulated more savings in my merry go round group. This has completely changed my life as I recently completed a new home using the savings. I am so happy to have moved my compound closer to the road on our farm where I can easily access water points.Initially , the compound was located on the upper part of the farm which is very hilly. This made fetching water a laborious task. This has really made me a better person this year as I can go about my daliy business in convincing as I live aloong a bussy road..
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will have started a business. This is because I need a constant source of income so that I can help my husband to take care of the families needs. He works in a college as a cook and his salary is not sufficient. I will use my savings to buy a shop stock that will work on so hard as I look forward to growing it. This will be a constant source of income for my family.
