How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The biggest difference in my life ever since I received my transfers is the peace which I got after managing to repay all the monies which I had borrowed to support my business. Secondly., I was able to invest part of the money in boosting my business. Now I get to serve more customers and also earn a good profit from it. The profit which I make enables me to cater to my family needs with less struggle.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Give Directly did well by giving us money and more so by giving us the permission to decide on what to spend on. Looking across my village everyone spent the cash transfers in a very nice way which is so encouraging. There wasn't anything which I can say Give Directly never did well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
The second transfers which I received from GD, I spent part of it to pay for a debt for the monies which I had borrowed before we receive the transfers. Some portion, I spent on buying and fixing windows and ceiling on my newly built house. The remaining portion which was KES 22000, I spent on restocking my shop.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Before we received the transfer, we were living in a mud house that had a lot of dust especially on the floor and was very hard to maintain. This was because we were unable to raise enough money to plaster the house due to low income, even though that was our greatest desire. The transfer made it possible for us to plaster the entire house and we are now living in a clean environment without any dust which has brought the greatest difference in our daily lives. Another difference is that I also recently delivered a new baby, so I had slow down on my egg business as I needed more time to take care of the newborn. This business was my only source of income and when it went down, my family was greatly affected. The transfers came at a perfect time and enabled me to boost the business and even expand it beyond what it was before. It also offered great financial support to my family during the time that I could not make decent profits from my business and kept us from hunger.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had just woken up and was preparing to start my daily routine when I received a message notification of the transfer. I had been expecting the money as I had been promised to receive it around that date so I was not so surprised, but I was very excited and all I could do was to give thanks to God for such a blessing and an opportunity to change our lives.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
We had just recently constructed a new house which we had not yet plastered due to lack of funds. When we received the transfer, we purchased the required materials for the plastering which is now done and we are happy to be living in a beautiful house. Part of the money was also helpful in paying the construction workers that we hired to plaster the house. As the transfer had been sent a time when I had just delivered my baby, some of it was spent on foodstuff and some of the baby's necessities that I had not managed to purchase.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money comes as a relief for me since I have always wanted to complete constructing my 2 roomed house and also to buy a cow for my family. I will therefore use the transfers to accomplish these two major priorities.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day has always been in the morning since this is the time that I feel energized to do my chores in the morning and do casual labor in the afternoon.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Lack of finances to meet my basic needs has been my biggest hardship. I am therefore forced to rely on odd jobs such as digging other people's farms so that I can get some finances to provide food for my four children.
