Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When GIVE DIRECTLY came here and told us that they were going to give us money, it was like a dream come true. One day, I heard shouting from my neighbors and so I too ran outside to see what was going on only to hear my neighbors saying "my money has come, Give Direct has sent our money". Since I couldn't read, I hurriedly told my daughter who knows how to read to carry my phone at the network coverage site and truly she came back running to tell me that I too had received money from GIVE DIRECTLY on my phone. I was so excited that I didn't even want to eat that day. I was excited because my husband has been sick for three years now and I am the only one struggling to take care of the family doing hard labor jobs. Indeed I was overwhelmed with joy.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life now is that I am not doing those hard labor work I did prior to receiving the transfer. I'm now able to paid my husband medical bills and give him all the care he needs.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My most recent transfer was spent on my sick husband medical bills, mattress for our room, school fees for our children, some herbal medicine for my sick brother in law and food for the family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My husband is presently visually impaired. He became ill two years ago which led to his blindness. We did not have any money to take him to a well equipped hospital to receive treatment. If I receive this cash transfer, I will use a part of it to take him to a hospital to receive treatment. The rest of the transfer will be used to send my kids to school.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The last six months have been so challenging for me. My husband is visually impaired and I am the sole breadwinner of the family. Nothing has brought me joy in the last six months due to the kind of hardship I am currently faced with when it comes to providing food for my family.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
My husband became blind two years ago; a situation which caused me to become the sole breadwinner of the family. Our family is a bit large and I go through so much difficulty providing our basic needs. Due to this situation, we do not sometimes have enough to eat.
