How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal now is to purchase sofa set seats and do the wiring for the new house that I build using the transfer from GiveDirectly. I wished to do horticulture farming and improve my dairy-keeping project. I am so grateful for the support because it changed my living standard.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does well in that they conduct the training and registration without being t biased. Most of the people in the community spend their money well and this has improved their living standards. I do not find anything that GiveDirectly did not do well.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent all the second transfer on purchasing building materials and completed the construction of the house that I started using the previous transfer. This was my main focus since I wanted to move into the new house with my family. I lived in a small house before that could not host all the family comfortably. I had always wished to build a better house but this was not possible because I did not have the money. currently, we live so well and we are so happy because were it not GiveDirectly all this could not have been achieved.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The feeling of receiving a huge amount of money from GiveDirectly was such great at the moment I confirmed the receipt. I was filled with an instant hope that a complete change in my life was finally in. The imagination of ending the hard toils and struggles I had been going through gave me a reason to be grateful then to God. I am still thankful after investing all that I received in the currently ongoing plans.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
Initiating the plan to construct a new house that has been in our thoughts for so long is the biggest difference in my life. In all seasons, it has been on my wish list but it has been unfortunate not to have started since I have never had enough resources. I am grateful that I have completed the purchase of all the required materials and receiving the second transfer will enhance payment of labor and also help in case I will still be adding some materials.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
With the first transfer I received, I spent a huge portion on sourcing the construction materials. It has been our household plan to put up a new permanent structure whose initiation has been facilitated by the transfer we received. I have so far obtained bricks, cement, and also iron sheets that have consumed a total cost of 52,000KES with the transport cost factored in. I am hopeful that as I look forward to the second transfer, the construction will have picked as I hope to complete within a period of four months.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a comfortable life with my family. We have been having a difficult time when there is a heavy downpour because water oozes into the house. Due to this, I bought a canvas to help us prevent water from oozing and the task is a time, not a good experience. I will derive a sense of fulfillment when I build a better house for my family from the transfer.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. My day entails taking care of our livestock while weeding our 1acre of land where we have grown maize for domestic use. This will take the entire day until late in the evening. Having time to relax and chat with my husband in the evening after the day's work brings a sigh of fulfillment as a loving wife.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Financial instability has been the biggest hardship we have faced in life. My husband is a businessman who buys and sells cows in the nearby market. The profit he gets from the business is solely used to cater for school expenses of my three children and other domestic expenses. I have one in college and two in secondary level with varying school fees. Owing to this, we have been unable to save enough to build a better house for my family.
