My goal is to continue buying the household needs such as food and tending to my farm and garden.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the fact that I am assured of food on a daily basis. Being elderly means I have little strength to engage in income generating activities and I do not want to over rely on my family members. Before, I sometimes slept hungry because I did not have any money. I am happy and full of strength, thanks to Givedirectly.

Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
An additional goal for my life in the next four months is to purchase a dairy cow. At the moment, I have only one with which, when it isn't producing milk, I am always forced to buy. This has been costly for me now that I cannot go for casual jobs anymore. Buying another one will help alternate with the one available thus will not be spending more on milk.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I am growing older and older thus I rely on my children for my basic needs. It has been my wish that I let my children work for their young growing families but my lack of income and limited resource made me their dependant. I felt ashamed even though these were my children since my dependence could slower their families' growth. Currently, my joy is knowing that I have some income at the end of the month hence will not entirely depend on my daughter for everything. I am happy that I can support my basic needs thus I am no longer full dependant on my daughter.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago because I get a daily income from the milk I get. I am so glad that my daily expenditure is now manageable and I don't have to labor in other peoples farms. To put food on the table, I only have to feed the cow and be there to milk it and sell the milk. I then use the cash to buy foodstuffs such as maize, sugar and cooking fat. I a so glad to have a constant daily income.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My next goal is to do poultry farming. I intend to buy more chickens to the rear and also build a fence to protect them. I will buy a fencing wire mesh using the money in addition to the chickens.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different in many ways than it was not only four months a go but since I started receiving these transfers. First of all, I have had peace of mind. Initially, I used to worry a lot about what I could eat in the next few days since I cannot engage in any form of casual labour to earn that extra income that can help me buy food. Receiving these transfers has enabled me buy food in plenty and avoid the shame of having to rely on my children whom I knew very well had other responsibilities to attend to. Secondly, I have been able to assist my children whenever they have any financial difficulties and this makes me a proud parent as well.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I want to save more money from the transfers that I get so that I can be able to meet any unforeseen financial challenges that may come my way. Old age comes with its challenges and sickness is one of them. I want to ensure that I have enough money that can gather for my medical bills just in case I fall sick God forbid.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Considering how old I am I can do very little to improve my economic status. I am ageing and I do not have the energy to do any hard jobs or casual labour. The last four months has seen me eat well now that I have a constant source of income, many thanks to GiveDirectly. I used to rely entirely on my daughter whom we stay to get food for myself. This was an extra burden to her considering that she has children of her own who look up to her as well.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will prioritize saving the transfers so that I can be able to practice advanced subsistence farming with the help of this money. The money saved shall help me buy hybrid seeds and pay the casuals that will be working in my farm. This will increase food production and earn me that extra income to sustain my family and avoid the shame of over reliance on my children.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Four months ago, I used to stay at home, without any meaningful economical ability. I had no capital to buy farm inputs. Initially, I used to rely on the milk production that I sold in order to buy other foodstuffs but there used to be low production seasons during droughts. Currently, I get enough food even when milk production goes low due to frequent drought such as, now. I have hope from the money I receive from GD. This money has saved me from famine as I would have fallen with it since I no longer work.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I expect my life to change in the next six months since I will have a lot of produce on my farm. I will be harvesting maize and I hope it will be a good harvest since it has already started showing signs of a good season. I have seen this because there has been quite some rain early in the season. I will also have increased the heard of sheep.
