How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different than how it would have been If I never received the transfer since I managed to build a better house, a pit latrine and rented a piece of land to start sugarcane farming. I was a very poor man who only lived from hand to mouth and could not save even a single cent to do all these things I have managed to do.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GD is a very transparent organisation and the beneficiaries are not picked with extreme biases as compared to other organizations. Only the extremely poor people managed to receive transfers from GD and that means GD keeps its promises. Personally, I have not seen what GiveDirectly does not do well.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer on building a shed for my cattle because the one I had formerly was old and had no roof, as a result, my animals were being rained on during rainy seasons which made them uncomfortable especially at night. I also used my transfer to build a pit latrine because I did not have one and used to relieve myself in the bushes and sugarcane plantations around my home which is very unhealthy. I used to feel ashamed when I had visitors around and they ask for a place to refresh themselves. I spent the remaining part of my transfer to rent a piece of land which I am planning to plant sugarcane on. I had always longed to own a sugarcane farm like my peers in the village since it is the major occupation in my area which brings in much income after harvesting. I am glad that GD helped me to achieve my wish.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am at peace now. Most of the things need money and I have the money. What else do I need??
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was early in the morning when I received this money from GiveDirectly,I was so happy and ecxited.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I have spent part of my first transfer on hiring a tractor where I can plant sugarcane. This is the main economic activity in my village. Some of the money I am planning to spend on school fees for my son who has been sent out of school for lack of fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means great help to me since my wife has aged and smearing the floor of the house has become difficult task for her, I will buy cement, sand and pay masion to plaster the floor of the house and use the remaining balance in improving my farming.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is usually in the evening after finishing the days work, usually harding cows is not easy in the fields and that is why the evening rest brings a lot of joy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have face recently was when I fell ill and there was no money to sort my medical bills, my wife had to sell one of the bulls that helps us in farming and currently the ox plough cannot work because we are less with one bull and this will affected our crop production since we did not till all our farms.
