How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
First and foremost sleeping has improved because I managed to buy mattresses and also my dress code has changed. In the past, I used to wear only two pairs of clothes and people could easily Identify me because of my attire. Secondly, I used to work on people's oxen in exchange to be ploughed for. This affected my cultivation because the owners could work on their gardens first then when the rains have stopped is when I'm given the oxen. Now that I have bought my own oxen, I can plough anytime I want since no one dictates on me and this will improve my yield because my crops shall receive enough rain.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly to me did so well to give me money which I never thought I would get. The money is unconditional and enabled me tackle most challenges I was faced with. Everything went on well and nothing was done bad by GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I used my second money to buy a bull for ploughing, paid a debt and gave my in-laws some money as dowry then feeding.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is different in that, the transfer has enabled me to acquire an ox which I combine with that of my neighbour to plough my farm land on time. In addition, I have bought better clothes for my wife, children and myself therefore we are presentable in society. Before these transfers, I used indigenous farming tools ( hand hoe) which was tiring and time consuming. Dressing was also a problem and community members could easily identify me because I had only 2 pairs of clothes which were even torn.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I felt very happy because I have never held such an amount of money in my life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I purchased Livestock (an oxen) worth UGX 800,000, repossessed my farm land worth UGX 550,000, bought clothing/ household goods( utensils worth UGX 300,000 and Agricultural seeds (g-nuts). There is a balance of UGX 30,000 which I'm planning to spend on food.

The happiest part of my day is in the afternoon after having my lunch meal. It is the only time I can takeoff to rest after garden work and I will have made sure everyone has eaten.
