Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I had gone to the stream to fetch water for our domestic use as routine. Then, suddenly as I was busy at the stream I heard my phone ringing, Upon checking what the message entailed, I realised that I had received a sum of KES 55,000 from Segovia technology. I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness. I immediately headed home where I informed my husband of the good news on arrival. He too was delighted by it and afterwards, we embarked on planning.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life today is that I was able to purchase a dairy cow with the transfer. At the same time, I was able to purchase a water tank for storing clean water and harvesting rainwater. I was unable to realise the goal due to financial constraints. Thus, I am relieved that I can save up the money that I used to spend on milk daily. More so I am happy and fulfilled that I was able to achieve my dreams in a short period. I am so thankful for the support that uplifted our lives amazingly.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Fetching water from the river daily can be cumbersome, but I had no choice since I did not have a storage container to harvest rainwater. When I received my transfer, I opted to use the money in buying a small water tank worth KES 5000 so that we would be storing water for our daily usage. This was not possible before since I am a housewife and I depend on my husband who works at a supermarket. We then used KES 30,000 in buying a dairy cow to cut down on the cost of buying milk daily. Our child depends on cow milk thus he will have enough. Lastly, we used the remaining amount on foodstuffs and clothes. We are grateful for the funds that lifted our lives positively.
