How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The cash tranfers transformed my life. I built a nice cmfortable iron roofed house and I acquired many household items that I couldnot afford before. Prior to receiving the GiveDirectly cash transfers, I was living in a tiny thatched house. This is the kind of transformation that I had never dreamed of.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly does so well to support the poor through giving them direct cash transfers. GiveDirectly has done only great things through the cash transfers.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I purchased doors, windows, cement and household items. Part of it was spent on paying school fees.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference is that I am happy because the cash transfer enabled the construction of a three roomed permanent house. This has saved us from the leaking grass thatched house. I am very happy for this opportunity.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the mobile message on my phone at night. My spouse woke up in the morning and read the message for me. I felt over joyed and excited because I had received an enormous amount of money that would improve on my living condition.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first cash transfer to purchase cement, bricks, timber, iron sheets, and nails worth UGX 1200000. I paid the builders UGX 480000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means I will be able to build an iron roofed house. The one that I sleep in is really in a bad state. In my situation as a widow, I have not been in position to put it right because I can not take care of the costs involved. Givedirectly will make it possible for me to build a better house for my family.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am happiest in the morning when I wake up healthy. I know my activities of the day will be done.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship that I am faced with is poverty. I do not have any where to get money from. No income generating activity to depend on. I have always wanted to build a good house for my family but I do not have the resources. I am a widow and life is not really easy for me. It is just a struggle to
