How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The goals that i had before receiving the transfer from Givedirectly are the same goals that i currently have, i wanted to have a decent accommodation and thats what i have accomplished.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
Most of the activities that Givedirectly does are very good and also very helpful to us poor people in the villages.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I am planning on buying a bag of fertilizer, i have bought cement to improve my house, lime and some new window frames. Apart from that i have also bought bags of maize because i did not have enough food for the whole family.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very excited when I received my transfer. I never believed this. I felt relieved when I received my transfer.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
So much has changed. As a single mother, it was very hard for me to make both ends meet.The money was a relief. My house was leaking but now it will not leak again because the roof has been improved. I have also managed to pay school fees for my children. I couldn't manage on my own to pay school fees.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
The transfer has been of great help to me. My husband died 11 years ago and it has been very difficult to support my family. The transfer came to my rescue. I managed to buy timber and currently improving the roof of my house. I have a child who is schooling at St Luke's College of nursing in Zomba. I also paid school fees for my secondary student who is in form 4. Part of the money was used to pay a builder.

Receiving this money means that I will be able to buy food and be able to pay school fees for my child who I have been struggling to support since I am a single mother

I am mostly happy in the afternoon after we have lunch, and I am also delighted to see my children play around
