How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My life is different from how it was in that, I have made a milestone in terms of development i.e having bought a 3000 liters capacity water tank, and a wall unit. The money that I currently get is channeled into other important matters. This would have taken me ages to see it come to pass were it not for GiveDirectly.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
The fact that transparency is upheld while conducting their enrollment and eliminating beaurocracy when facilitating the cash transfer processes is the best practice that makes this organization the best. There is nothing that went wrong through the program which I can point out.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I cleared paying for the remaining installment of a wall-unit stand that I started paying for using the first transfer. In addition to that, I managed to buy a 3000 liters capacity water tank for I wanted to save my wife from the hustles and bustles of fetching water from the river whose purity is always not guaranteed due to its contamination. I also gave her some money for shopping and for her upkeep when she was still in college.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my daily life is the completion of my house and buying furniture at this time. I would have been forced to continue living in this room without the much-needed chairs. I would have had to rely on making savings which would have taken me a really long time. It is a good thing that this has been achieved so that I can start saving money for other projects to make my home more comfortable.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
When I received the money from GiveDirectly, I was extremely happy. My grandmother was the first person to alert me about the transfers. She called me in the very early hours of the before dawn, immediately she got the news about the transfers . To my delight, I had also received the message confirming the receipt of the money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the money I received on completing the construction of my house. I mainly focused on buying furniture to make my home comfortable. I bought two three-seater sofas. I then send apart of the money to my wife who is a student in a university. I also bought some foodstuffs for my household since I am here with my child. I always strive to take good care of her which is why I had to consider her immediate needs.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I recently constructed a new house and the amount that I had was not enough to complete it. Receiving this transfer means that I will be able to use the first amount to furnish it with household items and buy water storage tank. Additionally, I will use the second transfer to pay the school fee for my wife who is in the final year at one of the leading University.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I spend most of my daytime grazing the cattle and thereafter taking them to the water pans to have some water. In the evening I chop some feeds for them and put them in the feeding troughs. Later in the evening I milk them while feeding from the troughs and if the quantity of milk is of the required set amount, then I feel satisfied that my goal for the day has been realized.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Getting a comfortable and spacious dwelling place to house my family has been the biggest hardship I have ever experienced. I married while still young and I had no means to construct a good house for my family since I was unemployed. I had to occupy an old small house that belonged to my siblings. The place was not conducive and one could see that there was no motivation from my family members to stay there. I had to live with that feeling for quite sometime until I was able to find some means to construct a suitable house for them.
