How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Now I have hope of getting money to help me fulfil my long term needs. I would depend on my husband to buy almost everything in the house and that brewed constant conflicts as he felt I did not bring forth any input to I improve our lifestyle. I was able to venture into livestock rearing to help in securing the family financially. I have also developed a saving culture that has really helped me fulfil my long term goals over time.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I have a new goal of buying building materials like cement and sand that I plan to use in plastering my house which I built but could not afford to buy the materials to do so at that time.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I saved a few of the transfers and bought a cow to help in changing our life financially. I bought a heifer that will help in generation of milk for our consumption and sale to get income for my family. I have always dreamt of venturing into the livestock rearing but I was not able to as my income was so minimal it only catered to our day to day provisions. I am really thankful to GD for making the dream come true.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I still insist on buying materials like cement and sand to use in plastering my house so that I can have a very beautiful house. At the end of the six months, my house will be the envy of the entire village and my family will be free from constant outbreaks of colds and flu due to dust.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Receiving these transfers has brought total change in my life. I have been able to plan and make decisions on my own on how I want to invest my money contrary to what I used to do before when I relied on my husband to give me money. He could always give me money and make decisions on how the same was going to be spent. Making my own decisions on investment have given me the best results than I could have ever imagined. When I received my contributions from the merry go round, I was able to buy dairy cow which has really assisted us in terms of reducing the cost of living in our family. Money meant for buying milk have since been diverted to other valuable family investments. This coupled with other family needs that I have been able to achieve have made me generally a happy woman and one free from stress.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
In the next four months, I plan to process a title deed for my piece of land that we bought sometime back. It will take us a total of KES 30000 to be able to accomplish this. I plan to save the Givedirectly transfers and get some additional money elsewhere to be able to do this.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to have a plan on what to do in my family. Most of the times, I failed to plan on what I needed to do because of lack of finances but receiving GiveDirectly transfers has enabled me to have a clear plan on what I want to do and achieve. Over the last four months, I have also been able to interact with women in my society during the monthly merry go round where I have acquired ideas on how I can improve my well being and that of my family in the society.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I expect my life shall have changed in that I shall have acquired a title deed for our farm. Getting a title deed for any piece of land bought can be hard sometimes but I am optimistic that we shall be able to raise the money needed to process it and be able to acquire. It is then hat we can be able to make decisions on how to put the piece of land into good use. In the next six months, my two children shall have as well cleared their secondary education and we will be making preparations for them to join tertiary institutions. This requires a lot of money and we are thinking about how to raise the money.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was four months ago in that I am currently independent. I now earn money on monthly basis which I always spend on basic needs and household daily expenses. I am growing old and it has always been stressful waiting for my husband to provide for the family and even to take care of my basic needs for a quite long time but this came to an end when the transfers from GiveDirectly came in. I currently have good bedding and have better access to personal basic needs which makes me a proud woman which was not the case before. I now take enough rest with a peaceful mind in a comfortable bed and this is always my happiness. I am thankful to GD.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
So far I don't have a new goal. I am concentrating on paying school fees for my child who is in form four who is yet to sit for the final exam.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
Being a jobless mother of eight children that only depend on irregular, low paying casual jobs, goals in my life has only been seen in my dreams. I spent all I could get in on my family basic needs and the extra could give my children as their pocket money. I had a wish that one day I will have something that my children will inherit from me and this was made possible by the cow that I recently bought. I expect it to multiply hence have more and more to give each one of my children in the near future. I am so happy always when I see it grows.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will be happier than now since my heifer will be about to calf which means my children will feed well and confirmation that my all-time dreams are coming true.
