Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
Currently, I am constructing a two roomed house and very optimistic that It will be complete when I receive the last cash transfer. Previously, I was living under a leaking thatched house which was becoming intolerable. I am very grateful to GiveDirectly for this life changing opportunity.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I received the cash transfer at around 22:41GMT that day. I became very happy and excited because I was in need of money to construct a good habitable house.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent the first cash transfer to purchase iron sheets worth UGX 348000 and timber worth UGX 196000 and bricks worth UGX 930000. I paid the builders UGX 200000.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means building a Permanent house for me and my spouse. The house we are staying in is grass thatched and the cost of grass is high hence we can not afford to renovate it on yearly basis. We shall be able to improve our living conditions with this improved house and save money to meet other household needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is after I have eaten lunch. I wake up early morning, do a lot of manual work in form of digging, I get hungry with a lot of stress on what to feed on, but only relieved off when I have had a meal.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I face is lack of a reliable source of income. I basically rely on farming as the only source of income which faces shocks of drought hence limited income in the household to meet daily household needs.
