Before receiving this money i planned to build a church in the town though the old ediface is there but the bugs have eaten the planks on the roof and other areas. Now ii will build a new struture with cement bricks instead off mud bricks. There were no funds to do this but when i started receiving the GiveDirectly cash transfer i knew i could rebuild the church and do other things.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Before Give Directly could start sending me the transfer, I have been doing my best to generate money so that I can regain my business that I lost in 2017 and also renovate my church as well but I could not afford the money. Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
My husband does subsitance farming for us to survive and he didn't have another source of income to fund our children's education. I was very worried about how to get money in order to pay my children tuition. The new school year is fast approaching and I thank God that Give Directly came at the right time to rescue me from my troubles.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The money was very timely because we didn't reap much rice from our farm as expected. Our farm was destroyed by wide animals. However, the money from Give Directly has helped us to buy more food.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I paid my children tuition and started used clothes business.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
My husband is the pastor of the church of Christ in Lyen. The condition of the church has become very deplorable due to the effect of the rainy season. Also, four of my children are of school going ages but due to low income, we sometimes have difficulty in getting their tuition paid. Receiving this cash transfer means that my husband will be able to renovate the church and also pay the tuition of our children in full.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Though we are faced with difficulty in getting our children's tuition paid, last month we were able to complete their payment and their report cards were released to us by the school's authority. They all performed very well and got promotions to the next class. This brought so much joy to me because with all the struggle I went through they did not let my efforts go in vain.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I am currently faced with two key challenges. One of them is getting the tuition of my four children paid in full while the other is the renovation of our church which has been greatly affected by the storm due to the rainy season.
