How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The thing that has changed my life most is seeing that I managed to treat my wife and she is now health and has no more complains about her health. She has gone back to operate normally with all her chores. Before recieving this money, all I was remaining to do was sell off or mortgage my farm land to raise money to treat my wife because the treatment was really expensive.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly has done well by giving me money to spend unconditionally. On the other hand, I don't see anything bad that GiveDirectly has done.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent my second transfer to buy an oxen at Ugx 860000. I then spent Ugx 570000 to treat my wife who had an illness related to a kidney issue. I then paid fees for my son who is in senior four at Ugx 200000

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The difference in my daily life is that my spouse's health has improved because I used this money to pay her medical bills. Secondly, my sleeping environment has improved because previously I used to sleep on the floor and old mattress. I managed to buy a bed, mattress and a jacket. Finally, this money helped me pay school fees and clear all the debts which had my land taken as collateral security.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was my son who came and alerted me about receipt of this transfer. I was deep asleep when my son knocked my house asking if I had received the money. I asked him to check for me and indeed money was sent, I was so delighted and happy upon receiving this money.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my transfer on medical bills, household items, clear debts and school fees.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I don't haven oxen and an ox-plough and other agricultural equipments like pest spray pump, hoes and gears. So when I get this money, I will buy those equipment to improve my agricultural practices because agriculture is the main source of our survival. This will see my yields go high hence increasing our household income after selling the outputs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is usually the time I take a awalk to the trading centre to sit with my friends or watch some sports.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of capacity to improve on our agricultural practices. There is no money to buy equipments and other inputs like fertilizers.
