How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Over the past few months, I have been able to buy some household items such as utensils and bowls that I would always borrow from my neighbours in case I had visitors and needed decent serving utensils. I also bought a lot of new personal items such as clothes. It feels better to have more options in my closet to choose from whenever I have an important occasion unlike before when I knew what exactly it would be.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
The current business I do is a seasonal one which is not consistent hence not quite profitable. To have something more sustaining, I want to start a new business on ready-made clothes as they will soon be in season during the fast-approaching festive season. After the festive season, I can then include second-hand clothes as well since most people buy those especially in the early months of the year when they do not have a lot of money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I do a french-fries business which is a seasonal one as it depends on the availability of potatoes. This means that sometimes, I have to pause the business leaving me with no income. During such times, the transfers have always been so helpful in taking care of my daily needs and even helping get back into the business whenever the potatoes are available in case I had spent all the capital.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I want the business I am planning to start on selling clothes to be a steady one that I can rely on so that I can eventually totally quit the current one that I am doing which is seasonal and unreliable. I expect that in the next six months, I will have known whether the business is something to stick by or not, depending on the outcome in terms of sales and profits.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
My life is currently different from how it was in that, I have managed to buy four sheep which I did not own before the transfer. Therefore, I feel honored to have them because they are an appreciating investment. I say this because they reproduce very fast and with this notion that I have, I believe they will be able to increase in number then sell some in case of emergency.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My new goal is to save the entire transfer which I shall be receiving for the next four months and use it to hire workers who will help me in saw-milling in readiness for constructing my new house. I feel it's important to save because relying on my meager income won't be forthcoming in terms of making this project to come to its completion since it barely sustains my family's needs.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have managed to buy most of the required construction materials such as nails and iron sheets. I am hopeful that soon I will be staying in a decent house that I have always desired in my entire life. Currently, I stay in a grass thatched house which leaks during the rainy season and in such times we do endure difficulty to sleep because we have to squeeze inclusive of the bedding at one point of this house to avoid everything getting soaked in water until the rain stops which might be probably at midnight. This has always affected the productivity of my children during the day since they do not have enough rest at night. The house is also small hence privacy is limited. The fact that I have started making this plan makes me happy and determined to reach my goal.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
My expectation in the next six months is to build a decent spacious house. Currently, I live in a small grass thatched one which leaks during the rainy season. This situation is normally uncomfortable, annoying and cumbersome since I have to move almost everything on a better side to avoid my staff being rained on mostly on rainy days.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I can now pay school fees for my children who get to stay in school and concentrate on their studies hence they can pass their exams. I have also saved and bought building materials which I plan to use in building a new house which can accommodate my large family. When my sons are done with schooling they can build their own houses as I will now be in my homestead.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I want to save transfers to start a business that will generate more income for my family.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have been living in my father-in-law's compound for a long time and when I received my first transfer from GiveDirectly, I knew I had to save and buy building materials to build a new house and move to my own homestead. I have been saving the transfers since I started receiving them in a merry-go-round towards buying building materials i.e iron sheets to use in building a new house as I had a thatched house that leaks when it rains. I plan to build a new house and I will be having my own home so that my sons can build their own houses too.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I have always wanted to start a business and GiveDirectly has fulfilled my dream. I expect to have started my business by then which will generate income for my family. I want to save towards buying livestock for rearing as financial security for my family. I shall have built a new house by then and my family will be living in a large house and comfortably.

How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
I now have enough food for the family which can keep us going for quite a long time into the future as opposed to how we used to strain in the past when it comes to getting food.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I want to build a new house because the one i live in currently is always leaking every time it rains the house leaks leaks a lot.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I have used the money to cultivate my farm and later on had a bumper harvest. This time I managed to use international fertilizer that I have never used before and that is why I harvested a lot of bags like I have never done before.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
I will have enough building materials to erect a new building and eventually move into the new house away from this old structure.
