In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
GiveDirectly is doing well by giving me this funds on monthly basis. This funds have enabled many families to atleast meet their daily needs like paying of school fees, and buying of food.I am very grateful for being enrolled in this support program.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my recent transfer by paying KES 200 for each of my 6 children as part of their schoolfees. I also needed to buy food and so I took KES 1300 which I bought food that can last for 1week and 3days for my family. The remaining KES 500 I bought 2 chicken because I want to start chicken rearing business.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was very happy as I could now send my kids back to school. When I received the transfer, I went and withdrew and paid for their school fees. The remaining amount went towards food supplies.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I got to pay for my children's school fees and they were able to go back to school. Were it not for the transfer, they might have been home longer. I also bought food as what was available then, was only enough for 3 days.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used KES 800 to pay for my childrens' school fees. My children had been home for 3 day when I received the transfer. They had been chased from school due to school fees arrears. I therefore, used part of the transfer to pay food the fees and bought food with the rest. The transfer was timely as I had food enough for only 3 days and I was able to supplement that.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Livestock farming is so lucrative. Farmers are selling goats at a throwaway price and I want to take advantage of that. I intend to buy them with the first six transfers. With 6, I'll continue rearing them as I buy grass for them with the hope that this drought will cease. They have a good profit margin when the time comes to sell.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I gave birth to a healthy baby girl 6 months ago. When I got pregnant with her, I had so many complications related to pregnancy. I did not think if hold her in my arms leave alone carry her to term. Whenever I look at her, I believe in the power of prayer and keeping hope alive.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
I live in a double room with my nine children. We all pass the nights on the floor. It is so uncomfortable and my children keep getting flu from inhaling dust all night. I'm sad because, at the moment, my husband and I cannot afford to buy beds or mattresses.
