Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was around 3pm and I was just at home relaxing when I received the SMS confirming that I have received the money from GiveDirectly. I was filled with so much happiness in my heart when I got the money because I didn't expect and I wasn't so sure that I was going to get the money. Therefore, I was grateful when I got the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life since I started receiving money from GiveDirectly is that we now have a motorcycle that is our source of income as well as something that will always remind us of the assistance we received from GiveDirectly. I was also able to take my remaining child, who hadn't started schooling yet, to school all thanks to GiveDirectly
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent most of the transfer which was KES 15000 on making a down payment for a motorcycle that my husband would be operating as a taxi which would be our regular source of income to help us meet our family's immediate needs. In addition to it being our source of income, it is a readily available and reliable source of transport to our family in case of any medical emergency situation which means that we won't have to worry about where we will get the transport to the closest hospital. This will also come in handy even to our neighbors, therefore this makes me so happy and proud. I also spent KES 10000 on making a partial payment for the purchase of the piece of land where we are currently residing because I have always desired to live independently and not to be worried about one waking up to a notice of eviction. Therefore, my aim is to complete the purchase of this land, own it and live comfortably with my family.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
I bought a piece of land half an acre on credit worth 60,000 KES and I paid a deposit of 40,000 KES. I have a remaining balance of 20,000 KES. The debt has stayed for 2 years now because of the current economic situations prevailing in our area which made me have hard time to save money from my motorcycle business. Receiving this money means I will be able to pay the debt of the land and also add another piece of land so that I can be able to do farming in my own land. I believe I will be happy if I will be staying in my own land.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I received a relief food of 6 packets of maize flour of 2kilograms each and 2 kilograms of beans. It brought joy and happiness to my family because I had food to feed my family for 3 days.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food insecurity is the biggest challenge in my house. My husband is doing a motorcycle business and the motorbike is not his. We have unstable income and without a stock of food is in my house.I don't have money in my house for any immergemcy and Incase one of us fall sick, it's a big challenge to my family because sourcing funds for treatment will be very difficulty. My children are growing and I am worried wether they will get good education because of the economic situation I have in my house.
