How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The greatest worry I had as a parent was whether my children will finish school or not. The money came in handy when my two children were awaiting to join form one. It usually an expensive process especially when the kids are joining high school. I am glad I was one of the beneficiaries since the money helped me in settling their expenses. I used the profits from my chicken business to settle my other household needs
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
We had never received any aid before in our village. It was like a dream to us when we heard that Give Directly will give us KES 110000. This was unheard of, I mean who gives out free money. I later came to realize that organizations work differently with different projects. I am happy that they kept their promise because they have really changed our lives.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent a large portion of my second transfers to pay school fees for my children who were joining form one. The money came in handy and helped me a lot in buying a school uniform and paying school fees. I don't know where I would have gotten that amount of money at once. I really thank this organization for their support. Apart from that I also managed to buy food that would last us for a while.
