Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The house that I was previously staying was in a bad state and due to lack of finances to renovate it, it was nearly collapsing since it was not stable enough to withstand rains and even strong winds. I thank GiveDirectly for the transfer has enabled me to buy enough building materials to construct a new house which soon will come to completion. To me, this is the biggest difference in my daily life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I was already up for my day's activities when a message popped up in my phone and did not hesitate to check who the sender was. I was greatly surprised and happy at the same time when I realised that it was from GiveDirectly that I had received my first transfer. I was thankful to them for this was the greatest support they did to my life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I spent my first transfer on buying iron sheets and poles for building a new house since the one I was previously sheltering in was very small and ageing. My new house will soon be ready to be used and spacious enough to accommodate my family. I am glad that the transfer has enabled me to construct the new house which I was not able to even renovate on my own. I also purchased two goats to keep in my compound as my assets. Previously I had none and through the transfer, I now have them and I am expecting that they will reproduce and increase in number so that I can depend on them in case of financial needs. My child was also out of school due to fee arrears that were outstanding and through the transfer, I cleared the fees and He is now back to school. I spent the remaining portion of the transfer to buy adequate food and other basic necessities for my family.,

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means a more financially stable life for me and my family. I will use the transfers to open a shop within my village which will help me earn income to take care of my family's needs.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening. This is the time I rest after all the day's hardwork in the hot sun.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
The biggest hardship I have faced in my life is lack of a stable source of income. My husband burns charcoal in the forest which is a very tedious job and fetches very little income which is not enough to cater for all our basic needs.
