How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The new goal I have set before receiving this transfer is to start plastering my house floor and wall. I am currently living in an old thatch house in this village. My planned had been to complete my unfinished building and move because of the house condition . Thanks to Givedirectly for empowering me financially to start working immediately on my planned . Givedirectly direct cash support has helped me speed up with my building process and I am grateful to God for everything. I strongly believe that one month from now, my house will be completed and my family and I will soon relocate.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
I want to be grateful to Givedirectly for empowering everyone in this village financially. Givedirectly has helped removed many from extreme poverty in this village . Many families were sleeping in thacth houses due to hardship and they used theìr transfer to start building zinc houses. Some never had money to take care of their families. They used
their transfer to feed their families regularly and even paid thier school fees. One thing I really admire about Givedirectly is that her staffs do not accept gifts from community. Thanks to Givedirectly for being so transparent in implementation. There is no system in GiveDirectly that needs improvement.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spend my most recent transfer to buy 15bags of cements to plaster my house.
I am saving my balance money to hire two cashual workers who are currently plastering my house. Thanks to Givedirecly for empowering me financially. I am over happy to see myself building decent house just within few months without any struggle and I believe that with my transfer, I am going to live a better house in this village.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
At the time the transfer came, I was under my kitchen cooking my house food, when one of my neighbors broke the news that the money from GiveDirectly has been sent. Upon hearing this, I went to the network spot up the mountain after dishing out the food I was cooking to check my mobile money account if mine has been sent. After I had checked and saw the money in my account, I was very glad and ran back to the town to join the other neighbors who were joyfully singing and dancing. In the evening, when my husband came back from the farm, I told him that the payment from GiveDirectly has been sent and we agreed that he should go the next day to cash out the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my life since I started recieving payments from GiveDirectly is that, I will now be living in a house with the walls and floors covered with cement and the roof covered with zinc. Moreover, I am now comfortably sleeping on mattress instead of bamboo bed. My family and I have been living in this mud house for decades now. My household is greatful to GiveDirectly for putting me on this program. I hope and pray that GiveDirectly will extend this program to other communities or counties.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
Portion of my most recent transfer will be used to buy gas to saw woods for fixing doors and to roof the building that I am constructing. I have been thinking about where to get money to complete my house. Portion of my payments will also be used to purchase zinc and cement and other building materials. Living in decent house has always been my plan, because at times when you visit a family member in the city, you see that she or he is comfortably living with his or her family in a decent house. Now that I have this opportunity, I am going to make use of it wisely.
