How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
The greatest difference in my life is that the cash transfers restored hope into my life. I had no hope of completing the purchase of a piece of farm land. However, I was able to complete the purchase of the plot of land. I also acquired a solar system that provides lighting at night. In the past, I would use a small phone flashlight which was inadequate.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well to help the destitute and poverty stricken. I also like the fact that they enrolled all the people in the village without segregation.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
I spent the cash transfer to complete the purchase of a plot of land and three trips of bricks. I also bought a bicycle.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
My life is different now because I have a lighting system in form of a solar which lights the house bright. In addition to that, I'm happy for having secured building materials for a commercial house. Finally, though I haven't completed my pit latrine but at least in the near future it will be done and I will no longer have to depend on my neighbour's latrines.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I didn't know about money being Sent but a friend of mine called enquiring whether I had received it. After speaking to her, I checked my phone and there was money from GD. I was so happy because it did not take so long for us to benefit.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I bought building materials I.e bricks, iron sheets that I will use to construct a commercial house for business. Secondly, I escavated a pit latrine of my own because I'm tired of using neighbour's latrine. Finally I bought a solar system for lighting.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
Receiving this money means that I would educate my children so that they can get better employment opportunities in future. Part of the money will be used to purchase oxen for ploughing so as to have enough food in the house.
What is the happiest part of your day?
My happiest part of the day is morning. Waking up healthy without any problem in the body and with no one sick in the family, makes me happy.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
In adequate food in the house is my biggest hardship. We as a family, eat once a day. This makes you weak and you cannot do much work for the day.
