How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
My new goal is to build a house because the house I am living in is not in a good condition anymore, I have planned to build a new house, but I didn't know how to do it because of a lack of money; since GiveDirectly has allowed us to improve our lives, I will do my best to make this goal to be achieved.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion, GiveDirectly does well by coming to help us to improve our lives, through their help, so many positive changes have come to our town, and lives have been transformed. The part of this program I love is that we decide how to use the money, by that we can change our lives the way we want it; I don't know anything that the organization is not doing well because everything is okay to me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I used my most recent transfer to buy some building materials so that I can start my house project, I also use some to pay my three children's school fees, and I bought foodstuffs with the balance.

With this uncomfortable living condition My dream had been to built a new house. For this reason , I used all my recent transfer and bought most of building materials, such as planks, zinc, steel rod and cement.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly has been doing well from the beginning of this program until now. They have truthful to all their promises census till payment time. They have done a tremendous job that cannot compare to non. Sincerely speaking, GD had not done anything that is not well. Thanks to this great Organization.

How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
I do not have any new goals. My old was to build a decent house for my family. I have not been able to do that because of the lack of money. I am a business woman. Through my business I cater to my family. The business hasn't been going so well. Things started to get difficult. I could hardly afford food and my children tuition. I was so excited when GiveDirectly came to my town. I was overwhelmed when I received my transfer. I know that my dream will now become a reality.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my opinion GiveDirectly is not doing anything unwell. It gives us so much money and ask for nothing in return. Money that we don't do any work for. This is an amazing opportunity to improve our living standards. We are so grateful to God for this. Things were a bit difficult for my family before I started receiving transfers from GiveDirectly. I am thankful that our lives will improve.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I live in my mothers house with my children. I am a business woman. My business wasn't moving so well.Things started to get difficult for us. I could hardly afford to feed my children or pay their tuition. The moment I received my transfer was one of the best moments of my life. I was so excited. I am grateful for this amazing opportunity. With this program, hopefully after receiving all of the transfers my dreams will become a reality. I have not withdrawn my money. I am planning on paying my children tuition. I am also planning on building my own house so that my family can have a decent place to stay.

Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
Receiving such amount of money from an unknown person or group of people is just a miracle that happened to me.I have been planning to build a house that will maintain my family and I because of the bad condition of the house that I am living in. There have been no way out for me because I have no money to see my plans come true. I was so excited when my first transfer came from Givedirectly because I have struggled too much in life so, I have believe that my struggle has ended when I got the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
There have been so many unhappy days in my life. I sat for over years looking at my children not being able to go to school. My house almost broke down on me and my wife and kids. So, for now the biggest difference in my life is that I am having smiles all on my face again. I can now sit and watch my kids go to school in the morning to secure a better future for themselves tomorrow. I can also have a decent meal almost everyday and finally, I am having my new house project on.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My children have been out of school for some times now. I have been planning to re-instate them in school but there have been no way out. Finding food for a daily meal has been one of my greatest challenges in my life for my family while my house condition is seriously causing me a shame and stress. I have not been able to settle these situations completely because of my financial strength but with the help from GiveDirectly, smile has full my face. I have divided my first transfer into three quarters. I spend portion of it my children's education, the second one on food and the third quarter on building materials to start my house project.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
In 2013 I was involved with slippers business but the market later brok down because the business money was used to send the children to school at the same time buy food for the house. Since my business broke down, I have found it hard to send the children to school or even provide their daily needs. Due to the hardship, in 2019 my children dropped out of school because I could not afford to pay their school fees. As you can see parts of our house are breaking already and leakages are too many. Last year I saved money to recondition the house but it wasn't possible because I used the money to pay the children school fees when they were thrown out of school. Now that school is about to open, my major worry is how to generate money to pay their school fees this academic year. If I am opportune to receive money from give Directly, I will use part of the money to send my children to school, renovate my house and the rest goes towards establishing my business.
What is the happiest part of your day?
Nothing much has really made me happy this year because things are difficult with us. I have been worried about my children school and that of my house condition. With the presence of Give Directly in my community and the news I have heard from other towns and villages, I am hopeful that things will get on course with me and the family. Getting money at this critical time means a lot to me and I'll for ever remain grateful to whomever providing this aid to us.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Our major challenges are shelter and money. My house has starting falling apart due to the down pull of rain and the constant leaking. It has become a serious challenge for use in fixing our house especially during this rainy season. There's no money to buy zinc or pay people to get us stakes and thatches for the reconstruction of the building.
