Having accomplished my initial goals that were restarting my husband's livestock business and supporting the education of children. At the moment, I have a new goal which is to start livestock rearing, especially goats. This will be my reliable source of income for myself to supplement the income from my spouse's job. Currently, the charcoal vending activity that I depend on is tiresome, and always experience chest pain after performing it.

In my opinion, GiveDirectly did well for sending cash directly to our mobile phones. The training that was conducted before enrollment helped us to spend the cash transfer wisely since it was unconditional. I do not see anything that it did not do well.

I spent most of my recent transfer restarting my husband's livestock business which come to a standstill due to lack of capital. I also used KES 19,500 to fund the educational needs of my 6 children. One is in secondary school and the others are still at the primary level. They were constantly out of school due to the huge fee balances which negatively affected their performance. I am optimistic that they will score good grades after clearing the fees. I also used the remaining amount on food because we had no food in our store.

It was around 7 in the morning when I was from the dam which is 3KM from my home and I was so tired since it was the second trip. Five minutes later, I got a notification on my phone that was informing me of a new message. I was quite nervous and opted to check, after reading it, I got so excited to learn that I had received my first transfer that GiveDirectly had promised during the enrolment stage. I had to call all my family members and share the news. It was for sure one of the joyous moments in our lives.

The biggest difference in my daily life is that I am now very hopeful and happier than before. I will soon be able to run my business ( buying and selling) of goats in the local markets which has been my wish to revive it but of the poverty life that stricken my household, I couldn't afford it. Goats are always in demand in my community therefore I believe I will get good money. I plan to use the profits to open a hotel, this will be my additional source of income which will enable me to pay school fees for my children and still cater to my family's basic needs without straining too much. Taking care of a family of six has never been easy for we were relying on unstable jobs with low incomes. I am so glad I have finally found a solution to the long-time troubles that I have been experiencing in life.

I spent part of my first transfer on clearing school fees of KES 12000 for my children one secondary and six in primary schools respectively. To add to that, my spouse and I are planning to start a business of buying and selling goats in the local markets which I am positive will do well because goats are in high demand as compared to other domestic animals. Back in the day, we used to run this business then it collapsed due to insufficient capital. I am glad we will finally be able to revive it. I later spent the remaining amount to buy my family's basic needs such as foodstuffs and decent clothing for my children and paying for some daily household expenses.
