How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
Living in a polygamous family as mother, you are left with major part of responsibilities in the household. I always try my best to give my children the best and also plan to see them in their future lives. At the moment, own cows is the biggest difference in my daily life. I feel good look at them knowing that I have financial securities at same time I always earn through milk sales on a daily basis. I thank GiveDirectly for the support I have a health family since we have milk as part of our meals and also we sell some to buy what we can produce.
In your opinion, what does GiveDirectly do well, and what does it not do well?
In my own opinion, GiveDirectly has portrayed their really intention of helping the needy. Look at my community, I am happy for the great changes that were noticed. We current own different asset that given us stability to support our families. I sincerily appreciate GiveDirectly.
What did you spend your second transfer on?
As a way of investing the transfer I took KES4000 to buy a cow and a heifer. I feel glad to have such living assets knowing that I will always rely on. I used another KES4000 on farming. I bough seeds, fertilizers and used some on land preparation. I spent the remaining amount on my households daily basic needs and items.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life.
The biggest difference in my life is that my children are now looking good in their new school uniform which I managed to buy for them after I received the transfer. The previous ones were ugly with patches all over. I used to feel embarrassed but there was nothing I could do. I couldn't afford to buy them new ones because I am the only breadwinner in the family. My husband left us with my four children and went to marry another wife. I don't have a stable job and buying a school uniform was the least among the priorities I had. Thankyou Givedirectly for bringing this change in my life.
Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
I usually switch off my phone at night so that I sleep peacefully. When I switched it on one morning I got a call from my brother-in-law who informed me about the good news about the money which was sent by Give Directly. I decided to also check mine and I was shocked to find KES 55000 from Give Directly. I was so happy, I remember kneeling down and thanking God for bringing Give Directly to my life.
What did you spend your first transfer on?
I had been buying milk on a daily basis which is usually costly. I used to spend a lot of money buying a few litres that could not last long. When I received the money from GD, I decided to buy a dairy cow. I spent KES 30000 to buy a lactating cow. Apart from that I also bought some iron sheets and nails which cost me KES 15000 with an intention to complete the house which I had built halfway due to lack of enough finances. In addition to that, I also bought ten chicken. I want to start practising layers of chicken farming because no one is doing that in this village at the moment. This will help me meet and sustain my family's needs easily. I spent the remaining amount to buy utensils and school uniform for my children.

What does receiving this money mean to you?
This money will enable me to build an iron roofed house as well as buy a dairy cow that will provide milk which will in turn be my source of income since i will sell milk to a local dairy shop so as to earn income to support the current casual job that i engage in. I plan to use the remaining part of the money to buy two goats for rearing which will latter reproduce and multiply.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I am always happy in the morning after waking up healthy and feeling energised for the day. My normal day entails engaging in tiresome casual jobs in peoples farms thus waking up healthy is a motivation to me.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
After separating with my husband 3 years ago, life has never been the same since the responsibility of fending for my three children has been a great challenge.I work as a casual labourer in proples homes and farms hence the little money i earn is barely enough to supporr my family. Financial constraints is therefore the biggest hardship i am currently facing.
