Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was in the morning around 7am , I was farming then I heard a notification message that I received money through mobile money. It was like a miracle , I was so happy . I thought myself that I am going to do everything I planned for the money.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am living a good life now and my family is well . I was able to buy food , home necessities and paid both the medical insurance and school fees for my children. I am thanful for the financial support that Givedirectly gave me.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I bought a crop land of 250k and I am planning to plant in that land different crops such as beans, cassava and sweet potatoes so that when I harvest them , I will sell them to the market.

What do you plan to do with the cash transfer?
In the first instalment we plan to buy a land for $300 and buy some clothes, materials for the house and food to eat. The second instalment we plan to build a kitchen because we currently cook in our room , and build a proper latrine and we also plan to buy livestocks, we want to buy 2 pigs for $60 to give us manure for our land and the balance we plan to save it and use it in our future businesses. Receiving this money means having an opportunity to have a better life and have our development and never worry about our future and the future of our children.
What is the happiest part of your day?
I gave birth to a strong, healthy baby girl who is almost 6 months old now, and our family is fully of joy and praise. And we have recently received a modern stove, and now the food gets ready in no time, and this is saving us a lot of time and firewood. Our daughter Khelia is able to study, and she is performing well in school, which gives us happiness.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
We have a small piece of land, and to be able to produce enough for our family, we have to rent from others, and we don't get manure because we don't own any livestock. We have to do casual labour to raise money to buy inorganic fertiliser, which is expensive, and we are not able to get as much as we need. We don't have access to capital to start a business, we approached Sacco ( Saving and Credit Cooperative) to ask for a loan but we failed to provide a mortgage because we didn't have a land at that time thus we didn't get the money we wanted.
