How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
The biggest step I have made in my life is joining college. People in this village rarely go college because education has not been given much value. Most people think millions of people have certificates but still won't get employed because employment opportunities are few. Therefore they opt to invest in agriculture instead. I tend to have a different opinion about having an education and getting employed that is why I still tried hard to go to college. I must say I managed to go to college with the help I got from Give Directly.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
I am planning to start saving for the next four months with the goal of buying a cow. I don't have any asset at the moment, therefore, the cow will be my first asset to own. I love dairy farming and would wish to buy more cows in future so that I can sell milk. I believe the business will be able to facilitate my education once it gains momentum.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my life is that I recently joined college. This has been my goal for a very time. I have been saving the money I normally get from Give Directly. This enabled me to pay my school fees and very soon I will have a certificate. This puts me in a better position to start applying for jobs. I intend to continue with my studies later in life once I get employed. At least Give Directly has helped me start this journey, it looked impossible at because I did not have the resources and I had started losing hopes of one day going to college.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, I will have started to plant tea. Tea plantation is a long time investment that is why I decided to do it. I managed to raise the money for buying and planting the seedlings from the monthly income I got from Give Directly. In a period of one year, I will start getting bonuses which will help me achieve bigger dreams.
