My life is now different as I now own a home that I built with the transfers. I own livestock and now my family has food; we do not have to struggle like we used to struggle before. I had no means of income and my husband was a casual laborer who would not get any jobs on some days. We were used to going hungry even for two days. We can now have meals on daily basis as well as live in a decent house. I can also start a business now that will sustain this better life for my family.

In my opinion, Give Directly has not done anything wrong. I now own livestock, I can start my own business and my children are in school. I am grateful to Give Directly.

I spent my second transfers to pay school fees for my children, to start a charcoal selling business, to buy food for my household, and finally I purchased two goats for rearing here in my homestead. I started a charcoal selling business because with business I can sustain my income. I will buy charcoal here in Kilifi county and resell in Mombasa county. It is quite a profitable business. I also hope that the two goats I bought can procreate and give me wealth and income in future.

the bigge]st difference in my daily life is that all the projects I was hoping for are now on making me busier than ever. I never knew that there will come a day where I will be planning for such a huge amount that I am not in any way expected to pay back. GiveDirectly is actually changing our lifetsyle , making us look and work like any other developed person in this country unlike before when we were growing weker and weaker into the poverty.

That day remained a different day of all days of my life. From a dull mood in the evening when I was getting to bed only to awake to the great celebrations in the neighborhood which reminded me of switching on my phone to check whether the joy had spilled to our family and yes it was. we were very happy knowing that all the plans we had put in place were starting as soon as we withdraw the money.

after several years of working hard on my 5-acre piece of land, I am seeing my toils coming to an end now that GiveDirectly is turning things around. I have bought two oxen from part of the transfers I received. this to me is going to bring great changes in my life and the family as a whole, this is in terms of increased food production due to the improve farming methods, timely planting with the neighborhood which reduces the chances of pest and diseases catastrophy to the farm produce and also to ensure great chances of meeting the market demands. I spent part of the remaining transfers in purchasing irons sheets, nails and woods to ensure that my family in the near future can enjoy the comfort of a well-set roof which is free of leakages. the remaining amount went to purchasing odf foodstuff and savings to keep checking any insufficiency within the household.
