Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
It was in the middle of the night when I heard people celebrating in my community. My husband decided to get out and inquire about what was going on. He was informed that transfer has started going out. I checked my mobile money account and saw the transfer. I ran out with happiness and joined the celebration. We dance the entire night. My farm didn't produce enough food for my family this gone farm year. Sometimes we cook fufu throughout the week because we don't have money to buy rice. Sometimes my children refused to eat it thereby causing serious embarrassment for me. My husband harvest palm so we can sell and earn our living. With my transfer, I bought zinc to replace the grass thatch that is covering my house. By the end of this month, I will have decent place to live. I bought 2 bags of rice for food. We now have food to eat. GiveDirectly has started transforming my family life from grass to grace.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
The biggest difference in my daily life now is my family have meal regularly and timely, unlike before we have to harvest palm and sell the seeds before having meal lately. I feel very happy when I see my children happy and it is through this transfer that total happiness is in my home. I will soon be renovating my house from grass thatch to zinc. It also brings a lot of excitement to me. GiveDirectly is my family earthly savior.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
I spent my most recent transfer on two paramount things in my life. I bought food for my family. I also bought zinc to improve my house by removing the thatch to replace it with zinc. Putting food on my family table has been very challenging for me because I couldn't afford to provide for them on a daily basis. My husband used to harvest palm so we can sell the seeds and buy food. Sometimes we have meal late hour because of financial constraints. This transfer has made my family to regularly have a timely meal. GiveDirectly has totally children my family living condition. We appreciate GiveDirectly for this support.
