Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
My additional goal in life is to expand my grocery business that I am running in our neighboring shopping centers. By doing this, my daily income will increase hence I will be able to meet most of our needs on time.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
The biggest difference in my daily life is that I have been able to build a decent house for my family. We used to live in a grass-thatched house before and it had started raining inside. This usually forced us to assemble everything in one corner of the house to avoid being rained on. Our beddings would at times get soaked in rainwater whenever it rained when no one was at home.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months, my life will have changed from how it is currently. I am optimistic that I will have expanded my business. Due to this, I will be able to meet most of our needs on time. My children will not be missing their classes as a result of being sent back home to collect school fees since I will be paying them on time. With this, their grades in school will improve and they will be able to further their studies to the tertiary level.

Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I managed to build another house using my transfer and this is the biggest change I have seen thus far. We already had some challenges living in a single grass thatched house. The roof was leaking and also when it rains I could not fetch water thus had to walk several kilometers in search of clean water. I am happy I will be able to store water therefore save time for other personal and household activities.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
In the next six months I will have bought a cow, I will also save enough money for my child who is class eight and will be joining high school the following year.
How is your life different than it would have been if you never received the transfer?
This transfer has brought life back into my family, Everyone is happy. We are happy because our standard of living has improved and are able to fetch clean rain water from our iron roofed house..
Do you have any new goals that you didn't have before receiving the transfer?
My newest goal is to buy a heifer so I can get milk to supplement our income.

What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
There was heavy infestation of maize stalk disease in my farm for the past seven years and providing the stable food(ugali) for my family became very difficult. I had to buy maize for those years and this really drained my business capital. This is the biggest hardship I have ever experienced.
What is the happiest part of your day?
The happiest part of my day is in the evening when I am back from work and already made enough profit of the day from my grocery business.
What are you planning to spend your transfer on?
I am planning to spend my transfer on expanding my grocery business and constructing a semi-permanent house for my family.
What is the achievement you are proudest of?
Since the start of my grocery business several years ago(though small) , I have been able to fend for my family's needs(food and clothing)and ensure that my kids attend school. This for me is the greatest achievement I am proudest of.
