Describe the moment when you received your money. How did you feel?
The moment I received my first transfers to my mobile money account, I shared the good news with my spouse and we were happy together. This is because we had plans to improve our lives with these transfers.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life since you started receiving payments from GiveDirectly.
I am a teacher by profession but so far, I haven't gotten employment. I usually survive with casual jobs to provide for my family. I had no plans to build a better house anytime soon due to menial income. After receiving the transfers, I implemented my dream of having a good house for my family. I am glad that we have a better house now as a result of GiveDirectly's support.
What did you spend your most recent transfer(s) on?
My first transfers which GiveDirectly sent to me, I had prioritize on building a house. I spent KES 40000 on purchasing materials for constructing a timber wall house with ironsheets roof. I choose to build a semi permanent house so that we would have a comfortable house to live in. I then spent KES 9000 on clothings for my family members. The remaining amount, I spent KES 3000 on buying foodstuffs and another KES 3000 on purchasing farm inputs for planting so that we would have food in the near future.
