How is your life currently different from how it was four months ago?
Before GD came to our village, I had no livestock in my name as I could not afford to buy one due to low income. When I received the second transfer, I decided to invest part of the money on a cow which is now the most valuable property I own. These transfers also enabled me to buy some very crucial household items such as utensils that I would have to borrow from my neighbours before especially when I had visitors.
Do you have any new or additional goals for your life for the next four months?
We are planning to move out of my in-laws compound into our own as soon as the elder brother to my husband does so, as tradition demands. We have already purchased most of the required construction materials and will kick off the project as soon as we can. My only goal right now is to see the project completed so that we can settle in our new environment.
Describe the biggest difference in your daily life in the last four months preceding the current transfer.
I managed to use some of the transfers I received to buy household items such as large cooking pots, serving bowls and other decent utensils that I did not have before. This has greatly changed my daily life because I do not have to borrow these items from my neighbours especially on those occasions that I have visitors as I did before. I did not have large cooking pots before so it was hard preparing meals for a large number, neither did I have decent serving bowls, so I would always borrow from my neighbours on such occasions.
How do you expect your life to change in the next six months?
With the farm that I had leased using part of the second transfers, I hope that we will have a better harvest this season and get relief from always having to spend on maize which is our staple food. We have a very small portion of land that usually produces very little maize that mostly sustains us for just a few months before we start buying, but this season, I know will have enough to last us a year.
