What does receiving this money mean to you?
I am a saloonist by profession and I have a great knowledge of doing the job. Over the holiday of December this past year, many customers came in my house day and night to be pleated. I made money before new year (KES 2000) from this saloon job. I have been dreaming to open a saloon shop just here in my area but I had no enough money to buy all the equipment plus renting a shop to start my business.
Receiving this money means I will start my saloon shop and I believe I will make money because even the female teachers of the nearby secondary school always comes home to look for me to set their hair.
What is the happiest part of your day?
During the new year celebration I ate chicken, rice, and chips- This brought joy and happiness to me because I had finished 2 years without eating these foods.
What is the biggest hardship you've faced in your life?
Food insecurity is the biggest challenge I am currently facing. My husband was employed in a shop in another town and sometimes he receives his salary very late, making us to starve with hunger. I always take food on credit from the nearby shop but when it reaches the deadline of the month without making payments, It can take me some days going without food until I clear the standing food bills of the previous month.
